Helping Out Our Youth
Our new manager, Dave, in Drayton Valley is getting out into the community and making a difference. Read his story below!
Hi everyone!
I recently became the manager of Drayton Valley Storage. It’s a change in career and I believe that I can make a difference to Drayton Valley Storage and the community of Drayton Valley.
It is Drayton Valley Storage’s philosophy that a strong well-loved community helps everyone thrive. This means that we, as a business, need to work with other businesses, individuals and community organization. And that by working together we can make Drayton Valley not just a place to work but a community people enjoy. I think this philosophy is especially important during these challenging economic times.
Even small things can make a difference in a community! Recently, I found several large bags of empty bottles while cleaning up the shop at Drayton Valley Storage. They could have gone to the bottle depot, but I wanted to help others. This is where the Boy’s and Girls Club came into my thoughts as children of all ages and eco-social conditions can use help.
After struggling to contact Drayton Valley’s Boys and Girls Club I was made aware that until recently they had been defunct. It was only with the help of the Wetaskiwin Boys and Girls Club that the local organization was able to get back on its feet. I was surprised that such a noble and long standing organization was struggling in our community. I felt I could at least make a small difference to the youth of Drayton Valley with my bottle donation.
My humble donation will go to helping the Boys and Girls Club provide lunches, field trips and toys for 50 or so children that attend this organization after school. Now to see what else I can do to make a difference in the community.
